3 Step
challenge

Drinking and driving kills more people then any other
violent crime in the United States. It kills almost 17,000 people in
the United States each year. Drinking and driving seriously affects every
age group but it is the leading cause of death for people between the
ages of 16-24.
People between the ages of 16-24 were involved in 28% percent of
all alcohol-related fatal traffic accidents. Although that same age group represents
only 14% of the United States population. Drinking and Driving is especially
dangerous for people aged 16-24 because they tend to,
-
be inexperienced drivers.
-
be inexperienced consumers of alcohol.
-
be more likely to use illegal drugs.
-
have a false sense of
invincibility and immortality.
A recent survey conducted with high school students shows that
almost 80% of students who drink frequently had driven while intoxicated or
ridden as a passenger with an intoxicated driver within the past 12 months. This
survey shows that drinking and driving is a common occurrence with teen
drinkers.
